1.—San Acht seo—
ciallaíonn “an tAire” an tAire Airgeadais;
ciallaíonn “stát-sheirbhíseach bunaithe” stát-sheirbhíseach ar seirbhís i gcáil ar féidir aoisliúntas a dheonadh ina leith a sheirbhís.
Sochair faoin Superannuation Act, 1909, a thabhairt do mhná.
2.—(1) I gcás aon fheidhmiú a thabhairt do na hAchta Aoisliúntas, 1834 go 1947, maidir le bean a thiocfas chun bheith ina stát-sheirbhíseach bunaithe tar éis tosach feidhme an Achta seo, ní bheidh feidhm ina leith ag aon fhorála de na hAchta sin a bhainfeadh léi toisc gur bean í agus, ina ionad sin, beidh feidhm ina leith ag na forála comhréire de na hAchta sin a bhaineas le fir.
(2) Faoi réir rialachán a dhéanfas an tAire, féadfaidh bean—
(a) a bhí ina stát-sheirbhíseach bunaithe díreach roimh thosach feidhme an Achta seo, agus
(b) nach raibh roimhe sin ina hoifigeach ná ina fostaí ag Cumann an Arachais Náisiúnta ar Shláinte a mbaineann fo-alt (2) nó fo-alt (3) d'alt 7 den Acht Leasa Shóisialaigh, 1950 (Uimh. 14 de 1950), léi,
glacadh le forála an Achta seo.
(3) Féadfar, go háirithe, leis na rialacháin faoi fho-alt (2) den alt seo, foráil a dhéanamh maidir le gach ní nó aon ní acu seo a leanas:
(a) go bhféadfaidh duine fógra gur mian léi glacadh le forála an Achta seo a thaisceadh tráth nach déanaí ná dáta sonraithe;
(b) nach mbeidh teideal ag duine glacadh le forála an Achta seo mura gcinnfidh an tAire dea-shláinte a bheith aici;
(c) go bhféadfaidh an tAire cinneadh a rinne an tAire dea-shláinte a bheith ag duine a chúlghairm tráth ar bith má gheibhtear amach aon eolas a thug an duine sin a bheith bréagach nó neamh-chruinn in aon tsonra agus go raibh a fhios sin aici;
(d) i gcás ina gceanglófar ar dhuine dul faoi scrúdú liachta faoi na rialacháin, go bhféadfar a cheangal uirthi pé táille d'íoc a chinnfeas an tAire i leith an scrúduithe sin.
(4) I gcás aon fheidhm a thabhairt do na hAchta Aoisliúntas, 1834 go 1947, maidir le duine a ghlacfas le forála an Achta seo, ní bheidh feidhm ina leith ag aon fhorála de na hAchta sin a bhainfeadh léi toisc gur bean í agus, ina ionad sin, beidh feidhm ina leith ag na forála comhréire de na hAchta sin a bhaineas le fir, ach amháin go ndéanfar méid an liúntais bhreise is iníoctha ar scor di a mhéadú leath faoin gcéad in aghaidh gach bliana seirbhíse inphinsin a bhí slán aici ar thosach feidhme an Achta seo.

3.—(1) Íocfar as airgead a sholáthrós an tOireachtas na híocaíochtaí a dhéanfas, agus na caiteachais faoina raghaidh, an tAire ag tabhairt éifeachta don Acht seo agus á riaradh.
(2) Íocfar isteach sa Stát-Chiste nó cuirfear chun tairbhe don Stát-Chiste i pé slí a threorós an tAire na suimeanna a gheobhas an tAire i leith scrúduithe liachta chun críocha an Achta seo.
Gearrtheideal agus comhlua.
4.—(1) Féadfar an tAcht Aoisliúntas, 1954, a ghairm den Acht seo.
(2) Féadfar na hAchta Aoisliúntas, 1834 go 1954, a ghairm de na hAchta Aoisliúntas, 1834 go 1947, agus den Acht seo le chéile.

SUPERANNUATION ACT, 1954.
Definitions.
1.—In this Act—
“the Minister” means the Minister for Finance;
“established civil servant” means a civil servant whose service is in a capacity in respect of which a superannuation allowance may be granted.
Extension to women of benefits under Superannuation Act, 1909.
2.—(1) In any application of the Superannuation Acts, 1834 to 1947, to a female person who becomes an established civil servant after the commencement of this Act, any provisions of those Acts applicable to her on account of her being a female person shall not apply to her and, in lieu thereof, the corresponding provisions of those Acts applicable to male persons shall apply to her.
(2) Subject to regulations made by the Minister, a female person—
(a) who was an established civil servant immediately before the commencement of this Act, and
(b) who is not a former officer or employee of Cumann an Arachais Naisiúnta ar Shláinte to whom subsection (2) or subsection (3) of section 7 of the Social Welfare Act, 1950 (No. 14 of 1950), applies,
may adopt the provisions of this Act.
(3) The regulations under subsection (2) of this section may, in particular, make provision with respect to all or any of the following matters:
(a) notification by a person of her wish to adopt this Act may be lodged not later than a specified date;
(b) a person shall not be entitled to adopt the provisions of this Act unless the Minister decides that she is of sound health;
(c) a decision of the Minister that a person is of sound health may be revoked by the Minister at any time if any information furnished by that person is found to be untrue or inaccurate in any particular within her knowledge;
(d) where a person is required to undergo medical examination under the regulations she may be required to pay such fee as the Minister may determine in respect of such examination.
(4) In any application of the Superannuation Acts, 1834 to 1947, to a person who adopts the provisions of this Act, any provisions of those Acts applicable to her on account of her being a female person shall not apply to her and, in lieu thereof, the corresponding provisions of those Acts applicable to male persons shall apply to her, except that the amount of the additional allowance payable on retirement shall be increased by one-half per cent. in respect of each year of pensionable service which she had completed on the commencement of this Act.
Payments and expenses of Minister and sums received in respect of medical examinations.
3.—(1) The payments made and expenses incurred by the Minister in giving effect to this Act and in the administration thereof shall be paid out of moneys provided by the Oireachtas.
(2) The sums received by the Minister in respect of medical examinations for the purposes of this Act shall be paid into or disposed of for the benefit of the Exchequer in such manner as the Minister may direct.
Short title and collective citation.
4.—(1) This Act may be cited as the Superannuation Act, 1954.
(2) The Superannuation Acts, 1834 to 1947, and this Act may be cited together as the Superannuation Acts, 1834 to 1954.
