1.—(1) San alt seo ciallaíonn “an príomh-fho-alt” fo-alt (1) d'alt 6 den Acht Liúntas Leanaí (Leasú), 1946 (Uimh. 8 de 1946), is é sin, an fo-alt a cuireadh isteach le mír (c) d'alt 3 den Acht Leasa Shóisialaigh (Liúntas Leanaí), 1952 (Uimh. 12 de 1952).

(2) Beidh éifeacht ag an bpríomh-fho-alt maidir le mí Bealtaine, 1957, amhail is dá gcuirtí “trí scillinge déag agus sé pingne” in ionad “aon scilling déag” agus “fiche scilling” in ionad “seacht scillinge déag agus sé pingne”.

(3) Measfar fo-alt (2) den alt seo a theacht i ngníomh an 1ú lá de Bhealtaine, 1957.

(4) Leasaítear leis seo an príomh-fho-alt trí “cúig scillinge déag agus sé pingne” a chur in ionad “aon scilling déag” agus “dhá scilling fhichead” a chur in ionad “seacht scillinge déag agus sé pingne”.

(5) Measfar fo-alt (4) den alt seo a theacht i ngníomh an 1ú lá de Mheitheamh, 1957.

2.—(1) Féadfar an tAcht Leasa Shóisialaigh (Liúntais Leanaí), 1957, a ghairm den Acht seo.

(2) Féadfar na hAchta Leasa Shóisialaigh (Liúntais Leanaí), 1944 go 1957, a ghairm de na hAchta Leasa Shóisialaigh (Liúntais Leanaí), 1944 go 1952, agus den Acht seo le chéile.

SOCIAL WELFARE (CHILDREN'S ALLOWANCES) ACT, 1957.

Increase of rates of children's allowances.

1.—(1) In this section “the principal subsection” means subsection (1) of section 6 of the Children's Allowances (Amendment) Act, 1946 (No. 8 of 1946), being the subsection inserted by paragraph (c) of section 3 of the Social Welfare (Children's Allowances) Act, 1952 (No. 12 of 1952).

(2) The principal subsection shall, in relation to the month of May, 1957, have effect as if “thirteen shillings and sixpence” were substituted for “eleven shillings” and “twenty shillings” were substituted for “seventeen shillings and sixpence”.

(3) Subsection (2) of this section shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of May, 1957.

(4) The principal subsection is hereby amended by the substitution of “fifteen shillings and sixpence” for “eleven shillings” and “twenty-two shillings” for “seventeen shillings and sixpence”.

(5) Subsection (4) of this section shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1957.

Short title and collective citation.

2.—(1) This Act may be cited as the Social Welfare (Children's Allowances) Act, 1957.

(2) The Social Welfare (Children's Allowances) Acts, 1944 to 1952, and this Act may be cited together as the Social Welfare (Children's Allowances) Acts, 1944 to 1957.
