POULTRY (DISEASES) ACT, 1934.
Definitions.
1.—In this Act—
the expression “the Principal Act” means the Diseases of Animals Act, 1894, and, where the context so permits or requires, includes all Acts amending or extending that Act;
the word “poultry” means domestic fowls, turkeys, guineafowls, and pigeons.
Extension of powers of making orders.
2.—The power of making orders conferred by section 22 of the Principal Act and now vested in the Minister for Agriculture shall extend to and include the making (after consultation with the Minister for Finance) of orders for all or any of the following purposes, that is to say:—
(a) for extending, for all or any of the purposes of the Principal Act, the definition of animals in that Act, so that the same shall for those purposes or any of them comprise all or any kinds or kind of poultry in addition to the animals included in the said definition by or under the Principal Act;
(b) for extending, for all or any of the purposes of the Principal Act, the definition of disease in the Principal Act, so that the same shall for those purposes, or any of them, comprise any disease of all or any kinds or kind of poultry in addition to the diseases included in the said definition by or under the Principal Act;
(c) for prohibiting (either absolutely or conditionally) and regulating the importation of poultry eggs intended to be used for hatching, and, for the purpose of such prohibition and regulation, applying to such eggs all or any of the provisions (including powers of making orders) of the Principal Act in relation to the importation of animals;
(d) for prohibiting or restricting, and regulating the use of imported poultry eggs for hatching;
(e) for requiring the payment of fees in relation to services under the Principal Act in respect of poultry to which the definition of animals in that Act is for the time being extended and in respect of poultry eggs, and for prescribing, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, the amounts of such fees, and the persons by whom and the circumstances in which such fees are to be paid.
Expenses.
3.—All expenses incurred by the Minister for Agriculture in or about the making, under section 22 of the Principal Act, of any order which is so made by virtue of the extension effected by this Act of the powers conferred by that section or in or about the doing of any act or thing under such order or under the Principal Act for the purpose or by virtue of such order shall, to such extent as may be sanctioned by the Minister for Finance, be paid out of moneys provided by the Oireachtas.
Short Title.
4.—(1) This Act may be cited as the Poultry (Diseases) Act, 1934.
(2) The Diseases of Animals (Ireland) Acts, 1894 to 1932, and this Act may be cited together as the Diseases of Animals (Ireland) Acts, 1894 to 1934.
