LIMERICK CITY MANAGEMENT ACT, 1950.

AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE INCREASE OF THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS OF THE LIMERICK CITY COUNCIL FROM FIFTEEN TO SEVENTEEN. [26th July, 1950.] BE IT ENACTED BY THE OIREACHTAS AS FOLLOWS:— [GA]

Interpretation.

1.—(1) In this Act, the expression “the Principal Act” means the Limerick City Management Act, 1934 (No. 35 of 1934).

(2) This Act shall be construed as one with the Principal Act.

Increase of number of members of the Council.

2.—(1) The Council shall, on and after the ordinary day of retirement of members thereof next after the passing of this Act, consist of seventeen members and that number of members shall accordingly be elected at every election of members of the Council held after the passing of this Act.

(2) Subsection (2) of section 5 of the Principal Act shall be repealed on the ordinary day of retirement of members of the Council next after the passing of this Act.

Short title and collective citation.

3.—(1) This Act may be cited as the Limerick City Management Act, 1950.

(2) The Principal Act and this Act may be cited together as the Limerick City Management Acts, 1934 and 1950.

1.—(1) San Acht seo ciallaíonn an abairt “an Príomh-Acht” Acht Bainistí Chathair Luimnigh, 1934 (Uimh. 35 de 1934).

(2) Forléireofar mar aon ní aon ní amháin an tAcht seo agus an Príomh-Acht.

Líon comhaltaí na Comhairle a mhéadú.

2.—(1) Beidh ar an gComhairle, ar an ngnáth-lá chun comhaltaí na Comhairle a scor díreach tar éis an tAcht seo a rith agus i ndiaidh an lae sin, seacht gcomhalta dhéag agus dá réir sin toghfar an líon sin comhaltaí i ngach toghchán do chomhaltaí na Comhairle a comórfar tar éis an tAcht seo a rith.

(2) Beidh fo-alt (2) d'alt 5 den Phríomh-Acht arna athghairm ar an ngnáth-lá chun comhaltaí na Comhairle a scor díreach tar éis an tAcht seo a rith.

3.—(1) Féadfar Acht Bainistí Chathair Luimnigh, 1950, a ghairm den Acht seo.
