Mínithe.
1.—San Acht seo—
ciallaíonn an abairt “an tAire” an tAire Leasa Shóisialaigh;
ciallaíonn an abairt “an Cumann” Cumann an Arachais Náisiúnta ar Shláinte.
Comharshocraíochta le tíortha eile maidir le seirbhísí leasa shóisialaigh áirthe.
2.—Féadfaidh an tAire, le toiliú an Aire Airgeadais, comharshocraíochta nó socraíochta eile a dhéanamh, le húdarás cuí aon tíre eile, maidir le nithe a bhaineas le—
(a) Arachas Sláinte Náisiúnta,
(b) Arachas Dífhostaíochta,
(c) Arachas Pinsean do Bhaintreacha agus do Dhílleachtaithe,
(c) cúiteamh nó sochar is iníoctha i leith díobhála a tharlas de dhroim agus i gcúrsa fostaíochta duine agus i leith galar nó díobhála de dheasca nádúr fostaíochta duine.
Cumhacht chun orduithe a dhéanamh.
3.—(1) Féadfaidh an tAire pé orduithe a dhéanamh is gá chun aon tsocraíocht a déanfar faoi alt 2 den Acht seo a chur i gcrích, agus féadfaidh le haon ordú den tsórt sin pé oiriúnuithe agus modhnuithe is dóigh leis is gá a dhéanamh ar aon achtachán a bheas i bhfeidhm de thuras na huaire maidir le hábhar na socraíochta.
(2) Gach ordú a déanfar faoin alt seo leagfar é faoi bhráid gach Tí den Oireachtas a luaithe is féidir tar éis a dhéanta.
Leasú ar alt 7 den Acht um Pinsin do Bhaintreacha agus do Dhílleachtaithe, 1947.
4.—An tagairt atá i bhfo-alt (5) d'alt 7 den Acht um Pinsin do Bhaintreacha agus do Dhílleachtaithe, 1947 (Uimh. 8 de 1947), do chomhar-shocraíochta, léireofar í mar thagairt a fholaíos tagairt d'aon tsocraíocht a déanfar faoi alt 2 den Acht seo maidir le nithe a bhaineas le hArachas Pinsean do Bhaintreacha agus do Dhílleachtaithe.
Cumhacht an Chumainn chun rialacha d'athrú.
5.—Chun éifeacht a thabhairt d'aon tsocraíocht a déanfar faoi alt 2 den Acht seo maidir le nithe a bhaineas le hArachas Sláinte Náisiúnta, féadfaidh Coiste Bainistí an Chumainn, le toiliú an Aire, cur le haon riail de rialacha an Chumainn nó í d'athrú.
Costais.
6.—Na costais faoina raghaidh an tAire ag riaradh an Achta seo, déanfar, a mhéid a cheadós an tAire Airgeadais, iad d'íoc as airgead a sholáthrós an tOireachtas.
Gearrtheideal.
7.—Féadfar an tAcht Leasa Shóisialaigh (Comhar-Shocraíochta), 1948, a ghairm den Acht seo.

SOCIAL WELFARE (RECIPROCAL ARRANGEMENTS) ACT, 1948.
Definitions.
1.—In this Act—
the expression “the Minister” means the Minister for Social Welfare;
the expression “the Society” means Cumann and Árachais Náisiúnta ar Shláinte.
Reciprocal arrangements with other countries in relation to certain social welfare services.
2.—The Minister may, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, make, with the proper authority of any other country, reciprocal or other arrangements in respect of matters relating to—
(a) National Health Insurance,
(b) Unemployment Insurance,
(c) Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Insurance,
(d) compensation or benefit payable in respect of injuries arising out of and in the course of a person's employment, and diseases or injuries due to the nature of a person's employment.
Power to make orders.
3.—(1) The Minister may make such orders as may be necessary to carry out any arrangement made under section 2 of this Act, and may by any such order make such adaptations of and modifications in any enactment for the time being in force relating to the subject matter of the arrangement as he considers necessary.
(2) Every order under this section shall be laid before each House of the Oireachtas as soon as may be after it is made.
Amendment of section 7 of the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Act, 1947.
4.—The reference in subsection (5) of section 7 of the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Act, 1947 (No. 8 of 1947), to reciprocal arrangements shall be construed as including a reference to any arrangement made under section 2 of this Act in respect of matters relating to Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Insurance.
Power of Society to alter rules.
5.—The Committee of Management of the Society, with the consent of the Minister, may, for the purpose of giving effect to any arrangement made under section 2 of this Act in respect of matters relating to National Health Insurance, add to or alter any of the rules of the Society.
Expenses.
6.—The expenses incurred by the Minister in the administration of this Act shall, to such extent as may be sanctioned by the Minister for Finance, be paid out of moneys provided by the Oireachtas.
Short title.
7.—This Act may be cited as the Social Welfare (Reciprocal Arrangements) Act, 1948.
